Teacher v. Coach

What’s the difference between an English teacher and an English coach?

An English teacher follows a prescribed curriculum. The teacher leads and tells the student what must be learned in order to pass courses successfully.

An English coach follows the student’s lead. The coach works with the student to set goals, encouraging and supporting the student while pursuing those goals.

Whether as a teacher or coach, my English sessions go beyond bookwork, grammar, and vocabulary. Professional matters, personal topics, life issues, and cultural experiences are also addressed.

In-person or online sessions can be:

  • conversational English

  • language development targeted to your personal/professional needs

  • course book work according to your language level

  • national and international English exam preparation
